Anna Huston

My name is Anna Grace Huston and I'm a current senior at Auburn University graduating in May 2024. I am majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Nonprofit and Philanthropy Studies. I'm extremely passionate about the environment and look forward to graduating and making a difference.

I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio with two older sisters and two amazing parents. I love my family dearly. My mom and I are very close; she is the one who inspired my love of philanthropy. She worked in a Social Worker position at my local high school and watching her change lives everyday inspired me to pursue a career that does the same. I have been exposed to philanthropy from a very young age; from assisting at church drives and outreaches to being the president of the Youth In Philanthropy club through the local Community Foundation. This grew my love for helping lower income families and families in poverty. I also tutored students who were socioeconomically disadvantaged for 5 years, furthering my love for helping. My other passions and hobbies include nature, reading, traveling, and movies.

Throughout my time at Auburn University, I have had countless amazing opportunities. I am a current member of the For the Bees club, Active Minds at Auburn, Feminists at Auburn, Waste Reduction and Recycling Department, Dream Mentorship at Auburn, The Campus Kitchen, Plant Based Plainsman, and the Office of Sustainability. I worked as an Undergraduate Student Research Assistant in the study of genetically altering cotton and soy beans. I also had a summer internship for the largest environmental hazardous waste company in North America, Clean Harbors in the summer of 2022 and the summer of 2023. Most importantly, I learned independence and following my passions.

Upon graduation, I hope to work in the environmental sector, either for a nonprofit organization or a lobbying group. I would love to work for a Nonprofit that advocates for environmental change. While I don't know exactly what my future has in store, I'm confident I will be changing the world for the better, one day at a time.
